Sensational Baking with Liquor?
Can you bake with liquor? One of the most popular trends in baking with liquor in your baked goods. This opportunity is not open to all Cottage Food Operators or home-based bakers. Michigan allows baking with booze, but you must prove the percent of liquor in your product. It’s almost more work than it’s worth.
A South Carolina representative (Division of Food – Survey Team Member) shared the state does not have any concerns with the “use of Bourbon as an ingredient in baked goods.” Cottage Food Operators (CFOs) must produce these products for retail sales, sold directly to the end consumer.
There are no restrictions on alcohol in baked goods in Arizona according to The Home Baked and Confectionery Goods Program, Arizona Department of Health Services. It is recommended you double-check with the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control at (602)542-5141.
If your state allows you to bake with alcohol, there is usually a limited amount of booze that can be added to your recipe. It is important to follow those requirements. Do not sell or give away the miniature bottles of alcohol without a liquor license.
